Rebinding news

A helpful discussion with illustrations of the recent re-binding of one of the manuscripts in the Goodspeed collection in Chicago (connected with a project to put complete digital images of all the Greek manuscripts in the Goodspeed Collection).

  1. I'm a seminary student with beginning knowledge of textual criticism. I've read a lot in the last year about efforts to "digitise entire collections". Is there any attempt out there to collate all of these collections? Do they work with each other? Surely there must be an attempt to digitise every piece of Christian writing up to the 5th 6th 7th century? or at least all bible manuscripts up to a certain date? Just curious. God bless

  2. Mostly the large institutions are doing their own collections (for reasons of control, protection, fund-raising, status, etc.). Dan Wallace and the CSNTM is working with a load of institutions to photograph NT manuscripts (with some extras beyond the NT); and INTTF in Munster via the Virtual Manuscript Room is making many of the images (both institutional and CSNTM) available.
There are other web-sites interested in collating information about images.

  3. For example, the Catalogue of Digitized Medieval Manuscripts (http://manuscripts.cmrs.ucla.edu/); http://pyle.it/; there was one called I.M.A.G.E.S. which I don't seem to be able to find today.
