Up-date: I have just shifted this to the top of the pile so as to get something sorted.
We need to organise another ETC dinner during the SBL conference coming up in New Orleans. Last year Monday evening seemed to work well (since most of the institutional receptions seem to be on Saturday and Sunday, and some people will want to get to church on Sunday evening). Some of us will be at the NTTC session which ends at 6:30PM (23-327 @ Balcony J - MR); some others may be at the Samuel-Kings session (23-340) which ends at 7PM. Any ideas on location (for meeting and then eating?)? Local help especially welcome.
Monday night will be the best. I am looking forward to the TC session that evening more than any other at the conference, and would enjoy the opportunity to talk about it afterwards over dinner.
ReplyDeleteWhat kind of price range are we thinking? New Orleans offers a different level of cuisine than most other cities. I expect that we will be looking at the $15-20 range. Perhaps, we should make reservations and ask for a group discount.
Monday is fine for me. I don't have anything more specific requirements. I have not even thought of my plane ticket, yet.
ReplyDeletePeter, can you use another font in your main posts? This one is somewhat difficult to read.
Monday is good for me as well. As for a place to go, I'll be glad to suggest several local spots that are excellent and not overly costly.
ReplyDeleteMonday clashes with a Biblioblogs.com dinner, but that will cost $50 per head and features a new commentary on Proverbs (neither of which are at the top of my list). http://www.biblioblogs.com/2009/10/28/dinner-invitation/
ReplyDeleteBill,
ReplyDeletewhy don't you recommend the one that suits us best - you remember last year. Something with local character, good food, seating for 10-20 people, etc.
Monday night? Oh no! What about the Oxonians with their reception that evening? Is there a conspiracy here? I have often wondered about the Cambridgeshire bias of this blog.
ReplyDeleteMichael
I was invited to the Sheffield reception on Monday evening, but the ETC blog dinner goes first, so Monday is ok.
ReplyDeletePerhaps it would be best if Bill Warren would pick a restaurant for us and make reservations for about 15. Bill would you be able to do this and announce the venue in a new post? Hopefully, we can blog the details before people depart to ETS.
ReplyDeleteI'll put the info on a new post as Christian suggested.
