"Ideal for papyri preservation."
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your new assignment. Phoenix is an interesting place to live. Be certain to visit the Organ Stop Pizza for an amazing evening of music. The pizza is OK too.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the recommendation. We'll check it out.
DeleteI won't be asking what's offered as topping for their pizzas...
Delete"Organ Stop" refers to an old theatre pipe organ, not genetic organs. Just as the desert climate is well suited to papyri, it also proves ideal for these old organs--the artist plays a host of instruments all from the console.
DeleteCongratulations!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Peter! Stop by the Logos Bible Software offices in Tempe sometime. We have staffers there from multiple departments.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Peter! Happy to have you in Arizona.
ReplyDeleteGood to be here.
DeleteAs you gleefully ease into next week's 120F/49C heat in Phoenixland, remember what was said about mad dogs and Englishmen in relation to the noonday sun, and wear a hat!
ReplyDeleteMakes you want to come visit, doesn't it?
DeleteYou have the entire Southern Baptist Convention meeting there right now....(sans moi, of course). They all came to welcome you, right?
DeleteThey seem to have brought cool weather with them so I'd like them to stay as long as possible.
Delete"Cool", like Miles Davis, is in the eye of the beholder....Some of us don't see 97F/36C that way.
DeleteBut worry not, by next Tuesday it will be 120F/49C in your new hotbed of NTTC.
Peter arrives as a welcomed balance to the force. I'll let the reader decide whether he's Syth or Jedi 😊.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to our time zone Peter, well at least until we drop back to standard time in the fall.
ReplyDeletebob (in California)
Dr. Gurry, what classes in TC will be offered? Any summer or better, winterim classes in the making?
ReplyDeleteBrian, good question. There's nothing scheduled yet but I've been encouraged to offer one and hope I might be able to do that within a few years.
