Go to the SBL site, log in, and make your submission! We have one submission already.
Peter Head has no excuses not to come this time – train from Cambridge to London ca. £20.
£32.50 actually unless you are travelling off peak.
ReplyDeleteThere is a scheduling conflict for me with the Tyndale Fellowship Study Groups (7-9 July 2011 in Cambridge).
ReplyDeleteWe will count on you to deliver at least one paper during 4-6 July then!
ReplyDeleteAnd perhaps you can find a "fun fare" starting at £1, since you know the dates so far ahead (http://www.nationalexpress.com/coach/Offers/funfares.cfm).
Actually I think those TF dates may be wrong. They should probably be 6 - 8, as we usually meet Wed - Fri.
ReplyDeleteGood idea Tommy, only they aren't available in July 2011.
ReplyDeleteWe will be counting on you. The fun fares for next year is of course not available yet ... we will have to watch over these developments (TF conference / fun fare). Maybe I should write a formal letter to Desmond Alexander, chair of TF requesting a special arrangement.
ReplyDeleteOne more question: London is a big place, where is the conference actually based? (I couldn't figure this out from the SBL web site)
ReplyDeleteUsually I prefer to submit paper proposals a bit closer to the deadline.
ReplyDeletePMH: "Usually I prefer to submit paper proposals a bit closer to the deadline."
ReplyDeleteFrom Wikipedia: "Understatement is a form of speech which contains an expression of less strength than what would be expected. ...
Understatement is a staple of humor in English-speaking cultures, especially in British humor."
Peter asked about where the meetings would be in London. According to the King James Bible Trust site, the meetings will be at King's College (here is the quote from the site: "The Society of Biblical Literature in partnership with a number of groups including the Nida Institute for Biblical Scholarship of the American Bible Society will hold an international congress in London 4 - 8 July 2011. The scholarly and public sessions will be hosted by King's College London.").
ReplyDeleteThanks Bill.
ReplyDeleteThanks Bill,
ReplyDeleteGood. Nice and central.
Tommy, you can always order an pre-paid oyster card for Peter...

I might have to do that Bob. Then Peter will have more time for preparation.

Same train trip of course.
ReplyDeleteYes, but a different paper, albeit including images of manuscripts, preferably papyri, and typical red circles highlighting details. We love that.
