On Peter Head's request, here is a final reminder to submit your proposal of paper for the SBL International Meeting in Rome 30 June - 4 July, 2009,(call for papers closes Jan 31).

Thus far, we have nine papers on a variety of topics in textual criticism relating to both the Old and New Testaments. Interestingly, there is also a paper that compares the textual transmission of the Qur'an with that of the NT.
So, go ahead and submit your proposal!

Well, have you gotten Peter Head's proposal yet?
Nope, not yet. In Boston some of the Tyndale House folks talked about renting a Roman villa, bringing along wives, so that may be the reason (if he is not sitting right now working on something) - they may arrive as tourists this time ... It reminds me of how Peter came to the SBL meeting in San Diego one day in his shorts, saying he had cycled along the beaches the whole morning.
BTW, we have ten papers now, and of course some more may still appear before midnight.
Still dithering. When is it midnight? Not long here, but it all depends on the time zone.
I don't think the villa thing is a goer.

Presumably you mean 13 proposals. But how many will be accepted?
Peter, we have accepted all this time. Those that had not presented at a meeting before were required to send in more material. After reviews and responses all papers were eventually accepted. My general guess s that this SBL International Meeting will be relatively large in terms of people and papers (and pope), perhaps the largest ever (i.e., international meeting).

This was before he began trying out for the Olympic walking competition, I guess.
How about he walk all the way to Rome, in the spirit of the scribe of Codex Boernerianus?
