Last week in my textual criticism course we had a nice lecture from Jessica Shao on GA 2860. It’s a manuscript she worked on through the Green Scholars Initiative with Amy Anderson and her students at North Central University. They had multiple leaves from 2860 which turned out to match those at the Holy Land Experience in Florida.
Fascinating discussion. Thanks for sharing. Peter, your students truly receive a one of a kind hands on experience listening to these scholars first hand.
ReplyDeleteGood Work! I went to the Holy Land Experience not to long after it opened to see their copy of Tyndale but unfortunately they hurried the tour through and did not allow people to linger at any manuscript/book exhibit.
ReplyDeleteHas anyone taken a close look at the Section-numbers in this MS?
ReplyDeleteThe first time I saw the PA in GA 2860 was at the Scriptorium in Grand Haven MI in the mid-1990s. I was not allowed to collate it then; the curator (Scott Carroll) said such could not be done until an editio princeps had been published (which never happened).
ReplyDeleteAfter the Van Kampen MS collection was transferred to the Holy Land experience in Orlando (and before the MOB obtained 2860), similar issues existed (being rushed through the exhibits, not being allowed to examine or collate individual pages, etc.). Thankfully one of the curators there (Dr Sandofer) had mercy on me, and arranged for a *large* full-color blowup of the page with the marginal PA to be printed and mailed to me for collation purposes (this was before Münster had a microfilm of that MS); the PA was collated, the full color blowup was framed and now continues to hang proudly on my office wall.
