0121 - a text laid out as in the TOC?
What remains of 0121 are two large folios with text from 1 and 2 Corinthians (here on the BL website). The thing I don't fully get is the meaning of the short little title:
"The second letter to the Corinthians laid out as in the table"
This title suggests that there is an explanation of sorts elsewhere, and it seems natural to assume that this πιναξ is an explanation regarding the content or at least the structure of the text. But what sort of πιναξ are we talking about? Would this be the normal kephalaia? I cannot see any marginal chapter numbers or kephalia in the upper margin, which would have helped. The upper margin is not very large though, so there may have been something cut off here.
Anyway, the title strikes me as slightly odd, but I am open to be enlightened.
PINAX is used here in the more applicable sense, "table of contents."
ReplyDeleteThus, "The second epistle of Paul the Apostle as set forth in the Table of contents" for that MS.
Perhaps this is connected with some type of lectionary reading order(?).
ReplyDeleteBut what about the "Roman numeral binary code" above that?
ReplyDeleteMAR is absolutely right.
