Unfortunately for us all, my co-conspirator won't be at ETS this year, so y'all are left with me. I am really, really bad at picking things like restaurants for this. I would LOVE it if one of our readers would step in and help make it happen. I'll take the first step and propose a time and date.
For anybody who is at ETS and is interested in textual criticism, let's have lunch together on Wednesday, 17 November at 12:45. Let's meet outside the bookstore (because let's be honest, that's the one place that all of us are going to know how to find), and then hopefully someone who knows the area better than me and knows what places are open/what restrictions there are can suggest a good place for us to eat. Feel free to research beforehand and come with ideas.I'll be there. Who will join me?
Thanks Elijah, I'm not coming over to ETS/IBR/SBL this year, so I won't be able to make the lunch.
ReplyDeleteSad to miss you Pete! Your speeches at the SBL dinner are among the best parts of SBL!
DeleteI would love to come to the lunch, but planned my flight to arrive on Saturday and leave on Tuesday because I didn't want to miss the Monday night dinner again! Sigh....
ReplyDeleteMaybe some of us could still have dinner on Monday night and go somewhere more pleasant than Hard Rock?
I would love to come to lunch, but scheduled my flight so that I would not miss the Monday night dinner this year. I'm arriving Saturday and leaving Tuesday. Sounds like I've missed the boat again!
ReplyDeleteBut if some folks would like to do Monday night anyway, we could set a meeting time and place?
Rumor has it that somebody is working on an SBL blog dinner. This one is just the ETS lunch. I hope we can do both.
DeleteHope to.
ReplyDeleteI'll be there. See you at the bookstore.
ReplyDeleteI'll be there!
ReplyDeleteElijah,
ReplyDeleteThanks for getting this rolling. If I may offer some suggestions within walking distance and reasonably priced. A) Mi Cocina is classic 'quick' Mexican food in the DFW area; always delicious. B) Flying Saucer is an another famous DFW spot. A truly reliable spot that executes a straight forward menu very well. Their locations also has one of the best draft selections in the US.
Whoa whoa whoa Chris, remember, some of us who go to ETS are Baptists (gasp!). We can't be having any of your Presbyterian juice.
DeleteAll joking aside, it'll be great to see you there though (assuming I read that right that you're coming). I'll pass along your recommendations.
Oh, yes brother. Remember, I call the conference BTS, Baptist Theological Society. But given that I am in the South and have a Spurgeon bobble head in my study, I feel right at home. Mi Cocina is a good choice, and Flying Saucer would have good seating options. In any case, look forward to catching up brother.
DeleteYes. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI plan to be there. Thanks Elijah.
